Abby was mad at Kovac for blindsiding her.
As Morris and Hope were trying to steer guests in the direction of the bar and tables, Kovac was trying to convince Abby to marry him. Kovac took care of the cake, the rings, and the dress, now he just needed Abby to say, "yes".
Ray was disappointed to see Neela arrive at the event with Gates. The two got some alone time and she explained that she wasn't planning on taking Gates. He surprised her and showed up at her doorstep. She explained that being with Gates made things easier when it came to moving on from Michael.
Hope interrupted a touching moment between Neela and Ray to tell Neela that Abby needed her. Abby took the opportunity to ask Neela to be her maid of honor. Tears filled Neela's eyes and she told Abby that she would be honored. Meanwhile, Abby had Neela help her with her hair jewelry, something that had been handed down by Kovac's mother.
Abby and Kovac were unprepared for readings at the wedding, so Neela stepped in and gave a traditional reading. Afterwards, Abby wanted to rush the ceremony and get straight to the "I Do's". Meanwhile, Kovac slowed her down and recited his own vows and Abby followed suit.
The reception was about to begin. Morris introduced the happy couple and called them up for their first dance. Meanwhile, Neela couldn't take her eyes off of Ray, who was at the bar. She later joined Gates who was outside trying to calm Sarah down on the phone. Afterwards, Gates asked for another chance with Neela. She wanted to talk about it later.
Later, a very intoxicated Dubenko planted a kiss on Neela. She left him and headed towards the bathroom, where she passed Sam making out with her wedding date, and then Hope and Morris making out against a wall.
Neela entered the bathroom to find her young surgical intern, Mai Ling crying. She told Neela she always cried at weddings. She also said she really admired everything about Neela then surprised her with a huge kiss!

Pratt escorted Ray out of the party and told him to take a cab home. Meanwhile, Gates checked on a pretty upset Neela. She accused Gates of wasting her time and they had no future. He turned it around and blamed Ray for Neela's behavior.
Neela called and left a message to Ray, inviting him for breakfast the next morning. A heavily intoxicated Ray was just leaving a bar when he noticed Neela had called. That brought a bitter smile to his face. He dropped his phone in the middle of the road, just as he picked it up; he was face to face with a speeding truck!

episode 22 - sea change
Gates brought in a patient, Sophia who fell down a flight of stairs, but was getting the cold shoulder from Morris. Morris called in Neela and the surgery team to assist the patient's head trauma. The cops later wanted to question Sophia's girlfriend, Megan for a loud argument the two had before Sophia's fall.
Neela was ticked off with Gates giving her the cold shoulder. Gates was mad because Neela broke up with him, so he had a right to be mad. She stormed off when he accused her of being a narcissist.
Neela rushed Allison to Moretti at ICU hoping he could revive her. Moretti accused Neela and the surgical staff of giving him Allison so if she died, it would be ICU's fault and not surgery. They had no time to argue, Allison was slipping away. James' concern was keeping Allison's colleague out of ER while the doctors did their work. It was too late; Allison had suffered extensive brain damage.
Neela was concerned that Ray didn't come into work all day. The rest of the staff shook it off and thought Ray must be suffering from a bad hangover. Neela became more concerned when she went to Ray's and he was nowhere to be found.

She was taken aback when Ray spun around in his wheelchair and revealed that he had no legs. Ray glared at her as he was lifted into his hospital bed by one of his nurses. Katie was also by his side.
As Katie went to check on the arrival time of Ray's parents, he and Neela had a private conversation. He told her he had to move because of no wheelchair accessibility at the apartment. She told him she tried calling him after the wedding and he said he was checking her message when the truck hit him.
Ray opened up to Neela about how he was in love with her and how she never came through for him. She assured him that Gates and she were done, but Ray told her that it was too late.
Ray's mother came into the hospital room to take Ray back home with her. She told Neela that Ray always talked about her and Neela called Ray a very good friend.
