Ray: Well he's like a stray dog, he'll just keep coming back.
Neela:: *laughs*
*Gates interrupts*
Gates: Hey, you know that one chest trauma today, stuck a needle in the heart got halfway through the pericardium.
Neela:: It's not bad for an intern.
Gates: Well, I had a good teacher.
Ray: *Mira para otro lado*
Neela:: *Mira a Ray y se ríe* Have you two met?
Gates: Oh, oh yeah, I have seen you around. Hey, I am Tony Gates. Intern.
Ray: Ray Barnett. R3
Gates: Maybe tomorrow you could show me how to do an open pericardio window.
Ray: Oh, I can show you to do that.
Neela:: *looks at them, smiles* If you'll excuse me.
*Neela leaves the two of them alone*
Gates: You know I heard she had a room-mate and he never tried to sleep with her.

Neela: Oh, I ‘m sorry, I tried to change everything over.
Ray: Oh, I don’t mind, I just figured you might need some of these.
Neela: Thank you.
Ray gives her a cute yet longing smile.
Ray: OK. (awkward moment, Ray looks between Neela and Katie, Neela looks at the mail) Ok, I’ll see you around, nice meeting you. (to Katie)
Katie: You two lived together?
Neela: Oh, we were roommates.
Katie: I hope you had benefits.
Neela: Oh, it wasn’t like that, we were just friends.
Katie: Why? That guy is smoking hot! (Neela smiles awkwardly) Why, does he have a girlfriend?

Ray: Hey Neela, you have a minute?
Neela: I have 12 hours, I'm here all night.

Ray:Yeah, well, it's about Katie, the med student.
Neela: Ray...
Ray: Hey, hey, she asked me out, alright?
Neela: You know the residentes are not aloud to date the students.
Ray: She's not my student, and she never will be. Is not doing any ER elective, so technically is not even against policy.
Neela: *still not paying attention* Then why even ask?
Ray: *surprised and upset* Thanks.
*Neela turns around confused*

Neela: Ya, I am just a little out of sorts. Look my cable isn't working.

(Gates interrupts them)

Gates: Enough of her to go around.
(Neela goes over to Gates, Ray has an unbelievable look on his face, or more like his jealous look)
Gates: 15 year old, broken ankle.
Girl: Really glad to meet you.
Neela: (to Gates) And?
Gates: Looks a bit angulated, don't you think.
Neela: Oh that's terrible, but I'm not ortho.

Neela: Well, you know, Pratt's right, it's not cool to date a student. (Ray turns around)
Ray: So now this is your business, too.
Neela: No, I’m only saying, she's nice and everything, and I like her, but-
Ray: But what, Neela? What?
Neela: Well, nothing, I'm concerned.
Ray: Well, thank you, I'm good, and Katie's good, in fact, things are going great.
Neela: Well, I'm happy for you.
Ray: So, what’s this really about?
Neela: What?
Ray: Why do you care all of a sudden?
Neela: We're friends, right, that's what friends do, talk about people in each other's lives.
Ray: Oh, well, that's how it is. Um, ok, 'friend', how's Gates?
Neela: (looks a bit stunned, tilts her head just a bit)
Ray: 'Cause you know what, really not into playing your games anymore.
Neela: What are you talking about...?
Ray: Do you think I'm gonna hang out waiting for you to find out he's just jerking you around?
Neela: Ray-

episode 11 - city of mercy

Katie: So, do you have plans tonight?
Neela:: Yeah.
Katie: So do I, with Ray. That’s ok, right?
Neela:: Oh, it’s none of my business.
Katie: You look annoyed.
(Neela gives excuse about the person in being in the bathroom too long...)

Ray: pick up the old chart from records and get the echo from- Gates: What about the toilet bowls, Ray. I haven’t scrubbed them down yet
Neela:: (coming in) Tony come with me a minute?
Gates: Thank god you’re here to save me.
Ray: Whoa, where do you think you’re going?
Gates: What, do you have a toenail extraction you want me to take notes on?
Ray: Are you too advanced for this stuff?
Gates: Look, if we have a problem man just spit it out cause I don’t speak 'bitchy'.
Ray: Oh, you seem pretty fluent to me. (to Neela) Get somebody else, my intern’s busy.
Neela:: Ray stop being an idiot, I need tony’s help. (to gates) And you, too, I’ve had enough. Why don’t you either slap each other silly or kiss now and get it over with? (walks out)

Ray: Alright, I’m outta here.
Morris: What, no, wha- You can’t go, I got no Kovac, no Weaver and no Pratt, I’m flying without a net here.
Ray: Mm, I’d prefer to be outside of the ER when it crashes and burns to the ground.
Morris: What?
Ray: Yeah, that’s what the Vegas odds say’ll happen the first time you’re the only attending on the floor.

Morris: Malia, wha-, what are you doing here?
Malia: Daddy?
Hope: Daddy?
Ray: Great, another one of Morris' petri dish kids.
Ben: Morris has kids?
Ray: Four, that we know of.
Morris: Hope, could you ummh.
Hope: Great, no, I will take her down to the break room, get her all settled in. Come on.
Morris: Oh, read her a story or something.
Gates: Hey Morris, it's important, I need a half hour.
Morris: Ok.
Gates: Come on, it's slow, you can spare... did you just say ok?
Ray: Whoa, me, you’re trying to leverage me, but you’re just gonna let him go?
Morris: You’re a resident, he’s an intern.
Ray: I have a date.
Morris: My daughter’s here, Ray, my daughter. You don’t see me shirking, fine, go, I’m already over you.
Gates: Hey, Sam, you have a car?
Sam: Uh, I hear snow, take the train.
Ben: Uh, the truck’s in the shop, bro.
Gates: I gotta check out a patient for Neela. (Gates gives Ray a look here. Ray has a look on his face, they show him again as he leaves the desk area looking concerned)

Teller and gates head outside.
Gates: How far is this place?
Teller: Just across the bridge.
*Car lights come and loud honking*
Gates: Watch it, jerkoff!
Ray: (pops out) I heard you needed a ride.

Ray: We should call this in, this girl’s really messed up.
Teller: If you make anybody come, we’ll just run away someplace else.
Gates: It’ll be fine.
Teller: Hurry!
Ray: The hell are we doing?
Gates: We’re helping kids, Ray.
Teller: It’s down here.
Gates: Love what you’ve done with the place.
Teller: Follow me.
Ray: Aw, that’s great, big ole mousehole.
Teller: Don’t be scared, it’s safe.
Ray: Oh thanks, I feel so much better now.
Gates: Come on Ray, I’m sure you’ve played gigs in worse places than this.
(yelling sounds, 'Oh God!')
Teller: Come on!
Kid 1/3: Who’s that? Who’s with him?
Kid 2: You said you’d get MayDay.
Teller: It’s alright, he helped save Paulie. (Ray’s coming in faster, taking off his gloves, looks concerned)
Gates: She’s diapheretic.
Lizzie: Please, please make this go away.
Ray: Yeah, and tachycardic. Hey, Lizzie, Lizzie, do you know what day it is?
Lizzie: It’s christmas.
Ray: Close enough, she’s lucid.
Gates: She’s pregnant.
Ray: And she’s very pregnant, baby’s crowning.
Lizzie: I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I don’t know how this happened, ohhh.
Gates: Alright lizzie, push now, gimme your all, come on, yes you can, atta girl.
Lizzie: I can’t!

Ray: Teller, Teller! Who’s this baby’s father.
Teller: It doesn’t have a father.
Ray: Of course it does.
Kid2: Get the men to help us.
Teller: (to kid2) Quiet!
Gates: Ray, the shoulder’s stuck.
Lizzie: Please get it out, I can’t.
Ray: (to gates) Firm, downward pressure on the head.
Gates: I am, I am. Wanna take a shot at it?
Ray: (nods) Ok, ok, alright, here.. (switches positions with Gates)
Gates: What’s she talking about, what men.
Teller: He gives us food from the restaurant, the cripple lets us sleep in the basement when it’s really cold. lizzie takes care of them and they take care of us.
Ray: Ok, alright, here we go, here we go, here we go.
(Delivers baby, and holds him)
Ray: it’s a boy, it’s a boy (Puts baby down on his jacket, hands him to Lizzie) Here ya go, here ya go, ok, here ya go, k, hold the head, there ya go.
Lizzie: He’s mine? (Ray nods) He’s so tiny.
Teller: (sees Gates on phone) What are you doing?
Gates: Calling for help.
Lizzie: Teller, get them and run.
Gates: Hey Lizzie, you and your baby need to be seen by a doctor.
Teller: You’re a doctor!
Ray: (address Teller) But we can’t do what they need here.
Lizzie: Teller, get them and go.
Ray: It’s okay, guys.
Lizzie: Teller go!
Gates: Whoa! (Teller runs, Gates blocks) You guys just need to spend the night in the ER, you, Lizzie and the baby, just the three of you.
Ray: Gates, they all need to come, they look jaundiced, anemic, they’ve got skin infest
Gates: The rest can stay here, I won’t call foster care or social services, alright? (lying)
Ray: Gates, what are you doing?
Gates: (signals him to shush)
Teller: Promise?
Gates: Yeah, promise. (Ray turns away then back)

Gates: 15 year old postpartum, needs stitches, little newborn baby, warmer and pace consult.
Sam: Where’d you find them?
Ray: Followed a star in the northern sky.
Morris: Ok, trauma 2.
Gates: (to Ray) Children’s services is on their way, I called up.
Teller: You did what?
Gates: It’ll be ok, Teller.
Teller: You promised!
Ray: Gates.
Gates: What?
Ray: You swore you wouldn’t force them into the system.
Gates: Well it got ‘em here, didn’t it?
Teller: You said we could trust you.
Ray: Nice job, Gates.

Ray: We, by which I mean to say Dr. Gates, promised no foster care.
Cservices: Well, that would be a mistake, by law they need to be placed.
Gates: Well, getting them to give up the life they have and come here, that takes a light touch, Ray.
Ray: Is that what you call lying to them?
Gates: I wasn’t taking a chance on losing them again.
Ray: You turned us into every bad adult these kids were ever screwed by.
Gates: Aw, that’s so sweet, and so naïve.
Cservices: Look, I’ll send a van to pick up the other children.
Gates: Good. (mumbles)
Ray: If you pick them up today, they’ll be gone tomorrow. Look, these kids won’t just submit, they need to be convinced that they’ll be safe and protected.
Cservices: Well, we’ll try to keep them together in a group home, but I can’t promise they won’t end up in foster care. (Ray’s looking fed up)
Gates: But you’ll follow up and make sure they’re ok, right?
Cservices: We always do.
Ray: Oh, come on, man, these kids are smart. They know that that’s not how it goes!
Cservices: A social worker will follow up. It’s the best I can do.
Ray: Na-ah-ah-na, no, that’s not good enough.

Neela:: Can’t believe you got CPS to agree to that.
Gates: Well, actually it was Ray’s brainstorm.
Ray: The trick’s getting the kids to accept it.

Gates: Teller, listen, Child Protective Services arranged for all of you to live together in a group home.
Teller: You said no foster care.
Ray: Now, hear us out, Teller.
Neela: Wait, Teller! (they run after him, Gates grabs him)
Teller: You lied!
Gates: It’s not safe out there, alright?
Teller: We survive, no one hurts us.
Gates: What Lizzie’s doing, having sex with men for money and shelter, that’s hurting her! That’s hurting all of you.
Teller: Don’t say that!
Neela: If you weren’t sleeping in old, abandoned buildings, Paulie never would’ve gotten sick.
Teller: But you fixed him, he’s getting better.
Neela:: No, he didn’t. Paulie died.
Gates: I’m sorry, I wanted to tell you this. His infection was too severe, we couldn’t save him, buddy.
Teller: I wanna see him.
Gates: I know I lied to you, but I’m not gonna lie to you anymore.
Teller: I don’t believe you!
Gates: It’s not working! The way you’re living is not working, man! You’re a smart kid, I know you got through that, but-
Teller: Let go!
Gates: Listen to me. You can’t go on like this anymore.

Ray: Teller. Lizzie agreed to go. It’s the only way she can keep her baby.
Teller: And the rest of us will just stay with them?
Ray: (nods) That’s right. And Dr. Gates will come visit every 2 weeks and make sure things are ok, alright?
Gates: If you need me for anything, at any time, you call me and I’ll be there.
Teller: You would do that?
Gates: Yeah. I need you to take the social workers to where the others are and let the kids know it’s ok and it’s safe to come in. Can you do that? (Teller nods faintly)
Neela: I’ll lead you here, Teller, come on.
Ray: (to Neela) Thanks. (as she takes Teller)
Gates: Well, that went better than expected.
Ray: Yeah? That kid may not survive one more of your gamings.
Gates: Look I’ve been trying to help that kid all day.
Ray: Look gates, you’ll say anything to seal the deal, I understand that, hell I’ve done that, but these are messed up kids, you gotta draw the line somewhere.
Gates: And what line is that, Ray?
Ray: (breathes out harshly) If you’re making promises you have no intention of keeping, you just cut loose. Minimize the damage, ok?
Gates: This isn’t just about the kids, is it?
Ray: No, it’s not.

Katie comes out her door looking happy and eager to see Ray, he’s carrying mistletoe and they kiss.

episode 13 - a house divided

Ray: Okay, the least you could do is give me an honest and professional opinion.
Neela: I did.
Ray: No you didn't!
Neela: How would you know? You're not a surgeon.
Ray: Neither are you.
(Neela gives him a look)
Ray:(realising what he said) Sorry, sorry, look...
Neela: (Talking over Ray) No, you look. I came down here, I assessed and made a professional call. If you don't want to listen to my opinion , that's your peroragative. What you can't do is accuse me of-
Ray: (Talking over Neela) Uh, we established you shouldn't have come down here and your opinion isn't professional, it's personal, just like your visit. The only reason you're siding with Gates is because you're screwing him.
Neela: Can't believe you just said that.
Ray: So, its true.
Neela: No, and even if it was its none of your damn business and has certainly nothing to do with this case.
Ray: It does if its clouding your judgement.
(Gates comes in)
Gates: Maybe we should get an attending to weigh in on this.
Ray&Neela: (Never taking their eyes off each other) NO!!!

Pratt: Hey. So, uh, finally get things sorted out with Neela?
Ray: There's nothing to sort out, man.
Pratt: (Smirking) You sure? 'Cause it looks like you got some sorting out to do. Look, man, if you need my advice all you have to do is talk to her-
Ray: Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. I don't need your advice, I don't want your advice. I took your advice, remember? You know, 'Give her some time, Ray. Give her some space, Ray.' Yeah, I did that. In fact, I gave her so much time and so much space she started seeing somebody else, so thank you for the advice, Pratt. (They chuckle)

Neela: I’ll call you when he’s out of surgery.
Ray: Ok thanks... (hesitates, follows her out of the room) Neela... Neela... I... need to say something. (walks down corridor with her)
Neela: No, you don’t. You did what you thought was right for the patient, I respect that.
Ray: No, see, no, that’s not it.
(Stop in hallway)
Neela: Then what is it?
Ray: Ah, (puts hands in pockets, seems nervous) this is probably wrong I know... wrong place, wrong time but uh...
Gates: Why didn’t somebody page me?
Ray: (annoyed/disappointed) We handled it.
Gates: What happened?
Neela: Seems like your patient has a perforated viscous.
Gates: (Cocky, rubbing it in) Really? Good thing we didn’t send him home, huh rush doc?
Ray laughs it off, smiles through gritted teeth. Neela sticks up for Ray.
Neela: It’s not a small bowel perforation okay Tony? This has nothing to do with the C felt siner.
Gates: How do you figure?
Neela: Small bowel doesn’t ‘seed’ the peritoneum like this; it’s colonic, maybe diverticular.
Gates: Really? Interesting tell me more doctor. (They walk away together; Neela looks back at Ray a few times.)
Ray stands back and watches there conversation, arms folded, not impressed. Ray keeps his eyes on Neela until the stepfather approaches him, he sighs and closes his eyes as if thinking “this is all I need”

Neela: Well, let's say I knew a really nice person about to do a pretty bad thing but this bad thing had really good consequences for a bunch of people.
Ray: (shakes head slightly) You don't need my advice.
Neela: Yes, I do.
Ray: Nah, nah, because you've got like this ethical alarm system hardwired into your brain, makes you a self-righteous pain in the ass, but it's one of the best things about you.
Neela: But, (puts finger up) if I tell what I know it's gonna mess things up for a whole bunch of people.
Ray: They'll get over it.
Neela: It'll be a major betrayal.
Ray: Ah, do the right thing, Neela, that's all I'm saying.
Tasha: Is this where i'm having my operation?
Neela: Yup the OR's are straight ahead.
Tasha: I'm scared.
Neela: I know, but we're gonna take good care of you.

Ray: Hey, we'll get you more medication when we get to pre-op.

Tasha: I didn't fall from the top of the formation.
Ray: You didn't?
Tasha: The other girls, they did this. They did this to me.

Ray: Hey, how'd it go with your big secret?
Neela: Oh, terrible, actually, worse than expected, but our cheerleader did well, though.
Ray: Uh yeah, the police are interviewing the whole squad as well as the coach, so.
Neela: Good.
Ray: Getting off soon?
Neela: Uh yeah, thank god.
Ray: Me, too. Wanna grab a beer?
Neela: Sounds good, but um, I've got some dictations to do.
Ray: Ok, another time.

(Neela walking down the street to the bar to find Ray. Ray gulps down last of a beer and puts money down. Neela takes the seat next to him.)

Neela walks into break room. Looks up as Ray enters.
Neela: Oh, hi, I'm getting coffee.
Ray: Hey, uh, tea. (moves around her) Excuse me. (picks up coffee pot) Honey?
Neela: (looks up) Yeah? ... What? Sorry. (puts hand over face) Here. (hands him the honey)
Ray: You busy?
Neela: Yeah.
Sam and the photographer lady walk in
Ray: *awkward* I'm gonna go.

By the jukebox, Neela puts in a song number.
Ray: B-10. You didn't actually mean to put in Get Down Tonight?
Neela: I like KC & the Sunshine Band -
Ray: *groans*
Neela: - besides, it's a hell of a lot better than the choice that you made.
Ray: Oh, hey, hey! Woman by Wolfmother, that is destined to be a classic.
Neela: On what planet?
Ray: You know - *chuckles* - I know we're pretending to be normal and I know we're pretending this isn't awkward, but, uh, it's kinda awkward, isn't it?
Neela: *nods* Yeah, kinda.
Ray: So, what are we...are we gonna say that this never happened?
Neela: Look, I know we should talk about this, but these days I just feel like my head's going to explode. It's just a lot of stuff going on.
Ray: Gates. *drinks from beer*
Neela: I'm trying to figure it out. I want to figure it out, it's just...I just need some time.
Ray: I've been there once before. Didn't turn out so good for me.
Neela: But you won't have to wait long. Okay?
Ray: Okay.
*song starts to play*
Neela: Oh, yes, B-10!

Neela: This is pretty kooky, huh? Them getting married like this.
Ray: Yeah, it's pretty kooky. How's it going down there?
Neela: Oh, they're getting ready.
*Ray hands her a CD with their picture on the cover*
Neela: What's this?
Ray: It's for you. I started doing a little bit of recording again, on my own, and it's got some songs I've been working on.
Neela: Yay, it's great.
Ray: There's one about you, that you'll have to figure out. Plus a few others, you know, some songs we used to listen to when we were roommates.
Neela: I'm sorry, Ray.
Ray: About what?
Neela: I thought I was coming alone and he just turned up, I...I didn't know what to do.
Ray: No offense, but uh, not knowing what to do has become your base line.
Neela: This isn't easy for me, Ray. I've had a pretty hard time ever since...losing Michael, I still haven't quite...
Ray: Yeah, I know.
Neela: I mean, Tony was new. There's no history. He didn't make me think about things from before. Maybe I rushed into it because it made moving on easier.
Ray: So I feel like history to you?
Neela: Well, I couldn't seperate you from Michael. I couldn't be with you and not feel guilty.
Ray: *nodding* What about now?
*Ray is touching her wrist, rubbing it gently*
Neela: Now? Not sure all that matters anymore.
Ray: *smiling* Meaning?
Neela:*smiles back*
Hope: *interrupts them*

(after Ray has seen Neela with Gates, he gets drunk at the bar.)
*Ray is drinking at the bar. Gates walks up.*
Gates: Hi, I'd like a dry and dirty martini and a tequila sunrise, please. *looks at Ray, who is ignoring him* Hey, Ray, what's shakin'?
Ray: Dry and dirty? I should have figured that one out.
Gates: Actually, I, uh, I prefer the tequila sunrise because of all the pretty colors.
Ray: Asshole.
Pratt: Gates, what are you doing, man? Leave some liquor for everybody else, alright? Bartender, please, another one, vodka and cranberry.
Gates: Hey Ray, I don't know if you noticed but there's a party going on here, everybody's having a good time, dancing, so any time you feel like, you know, jumping in, just get off your little stool and, y'know - Bartender - *points to Ray* - hot coffee for him, keep it coming, fast and black, won't you? *starts to walk away*
Ray: You're a real prick, you know that?
Morris: *turns to Pratt* Problem?
Pratt: Not yet, but soon.
Gates: *walks up to Ray* What's, uh, what's your damage, Ray?
Ray: My damage is you walked into our ER like you owned the place. I don't appreciate that. Nobody else does.
Gates: Okay, I realize that you don't like me, but sooner or later you're going to have to get used to living with me, 'cause I ain't going nowhere.
Ray: You want to leave a mess wherever you go, that's up to you. But there are two things I will not let you screw around with. That is patient's lives and... *cuts off*
Gates: And what, Ray?
Ray: And her.
Gates: Hey, I care about her, you sulkly little piss ant.
Ray: I bet you have yourself almost convinced of that. But, see, the problem is, you're the only one that buys it.
Pratt: Hey, come on Ray, let's go for a walk, man...
Gates: Hey, hey, ney, no, just let me say -
*Neela is here at this point*
Gates: Ray. You know that thing you guys had in the past? It's over, finished, done.
Neela: Tony...
Ray: *looks over at Neela*
Neela: *looks at Ray*
Ray: *looking back at Tony* You don't know how to take care of her.
Neela: Ray, please.
Gates: *with a sarcastic, rubbing it in your face smile* Well, Ray, at least I'm trying.
Ray: Yeah, that's right. Like you took care of Meg, huh?
*Gates pauses, Morris and Pratt try to ease things, Neela looks helplessly on*
*Gates attacks Ray and they fight, before Morris and Pratt break them up*

(Ray with Pratt after the fight)
*Pratt leads a drunken Ray out of the door*
Pratt: What the hell is wrong with you?
Ray: I'm good, I'm okay, get off of me.
Pratt: What are you trying to do, ruin it for Abby and Luka?
Ray: Just get the hell off of me, man.
Pratt: Hey, Ray, what's going on with you, man? Huh?
Ray: I don't think you get it, Greg, you know. Every time I feel like I'm turning the corner, I feel like I know what I'm doing, I end up falling backwards again.
Pratt: Alright, look, it's a wedding, you're drunk, and you're hooked on a girl. Just go home, you'll feel better about it in the morning.
Ray: I don't want to go home.
Pratt: Well, you're done here, okay? So just catch a cab.
Ray: Pratt...
Pratt: Go home, Ray. I'm not kidding, go home.

(Gates and Neela talk)

Gates: I'm sorry that happened.
Neela: You know, Abby and Luka are in the other room. thank God, they don't even know about it.
Gates: There's no excuse.
Neela: No, Tony, there isn't.
Gates: I wasn't looking for trouble, the guy was - he just wouldn't back down, he-
Neela: *angrily* Oh, right, and there was no other way for that conversation to end without him backing down.
Gates: What do you mean?
Neela: Well, with men, you have to win. And with women, well, with women, you have to feel like you've done right by them. Even if all you're doing is causing them pain, or at best, wasting their time.
Gates: Is that what you think I'm doing, wasting your time?
Neela: *stands up* You know, I think we both got into this because we knew it had no future. It was just a bridge from one part of our life into another.
Gates: I think it's a lot more than that.
Neela: I don't love you. And I don't think you love me and I don't see much chance of that changing anytime soon.
Gates: So that's it, huh? We're done?
Neela: Yeah.
Gates: Because Ray couldn't get over you?
Neela: No. *starting to cry* Because you can stand there as if you're listening to what I'm saying and still believe that none of this is your fault. *walks away*

episode 23 - the honeymoon is over

Ray: They tried to save my legs but the crush injuries were too severe. But it could be a lot worse you know, I could be dead. They're going to fit me for prosthetics as soon as the flaps heal. So I guess in the meantime I can pimp out my wheelchair and maybe put some flames down the side...
Neela: Ray...
Ray: New legs it's cool man, I can park in the good spaces now...
Neela: Ray, stop.
Katie: Ah, do you want something to drink? I'm going to get a coffee.
Ray: No, thanks.
Katie: Umm, I'll call your parents and see if I can get an ETA. Good spaces now...
Ray: Yeah, good. Great.
Neela: Is there anything I can do?
Ray: No.
Neela: Would you like me to tell anyone at County?
Ray: No. I really don't want you to do anything.
Neela: You know, I was so worried about you I even went to our ... your apartment.
Ray: Well, it's up for lease if you want to move back in. No ramps.
Neela: You know the night this ... after you left the wedding, I tried calling you cause I wanted to talk, I was hoping...
Ray: I know, I know, I was checking the message when I got hit. So I know.

Neela: Maybe I could come visit you.
Ray: Don't.
Neela: What?
Ray: Just don't tell me that you're going to do something when I know you won't.
Neela: Why don't you think that I'd come visit you?
Ray: Because that's what our relationship is, Neela. You give me hope and I, like a fool, believe you.
Neela: Ray, that's not true.
Ray: It is true. I've waited for you, I trusted you, I fall for you and I even fell in love with you and for what? So you just could keep running back to Gates?
Neela: I'm not, that's what I've been trying to tell you. It's over. Tony and I are done.
Ray: Well, it doesn't really matter now, does it?

*Neela is sitting, watching Ray sleeping.*
Katie: Neela, this is Jacy, Ray's mom.
Neela: Oh, hello, hey, I'm so sorry t-
Jacy: Oh, no. I've heard a lot about you.
Neela: Ray and I are good friends.
Jacy: He said you were the best roommate he ever had.
Neela: Well, that's cause I did all his laundry for him.
Jacy: Oh, I used to think sometimes that was the only reason he came home. I'm, um, gonna take him home now. Gonna... gonna get him better.

*Neela leans down and kisses a sleeping Ray on the neck*
Neela: You'll get through this, I promise.
*Ray awakens and looks into Neela's eyes; he's then wheeled out of the room.*
Jacy: Thank you Katie. You've been wonderful. You come on down to Baton Rouge whenever you can get away.
Katie: You know I will, man.
Neela and Katie watch Ray and his mom leaving.
Neela: You're a good person Katie...
Katie: Oh, shut up. Shut up!
Neela: Well, I know you're upset...
Katie: You did this, you selfish bitch. Nobody else, okay? You did. So you live with that.
Katie leaves Neela standing by the door.
